Guitar Space Team
While the Breedlove Pursuit isn’t your traditional classical guitar, it does provide musicians with a traditional classical guitar sound. The first thing that most musicians are going to notice about the Breedlove Pursuit Concert acoustic-electric guitar is the surprisingly distinctive sound that’s extremely difficult to find for such an affordable price tag.
The Breedlove Pursuit Concert acoustic-electric guitar comes with a single-cutaway concert body. It has a solid cedar top, and laminated mahogany sides and back. The mahogany neck is bolted on and has a single-action truss rod. It can be accessed through the soundhole.
The first difference of the Breedlove guitar that a lot of experienced classical musicians may notice is in the use of East Indian rosewood on the fretboard of the guitar, with 20 frets and center dot inlays. As for the tuning section of the Breedlove Pursuit, you will be receiving chrome die-cast tuners with a 15-1 ratio.
When going shopping for a new guitar, you’re more than likely going to become overwhelmed by a large number of guitars that are available for you to choose from. In order to be able to assess the quality of an instrument, you should have an understanding of the criteria that we use to gauge the quality of an instrument.
Just as a quick note, when you purchase the Breedlove Pursuit, you will be purchasing a guitar that comes with a warranty. This warranty guarantees that your instrument is free of defects in craftsmanship and in the materials, that were used to build the instrument.
On top of that, your instrument will also come with a two-year warranty on the electronics and the tuning pegs.
Sound
As for the overall sound of the Breedlove Pursuit, this concert acoustic-electric produces a warm, mature, earthy tone that all created from the unique tonewood combination that Breedlove used to create this instrument. When playing with this instrument, you’ll notice that you will hear an even response throughout the lows, mids, and highs, all with sustain and clear note projection.
The combination of mahogany and cedar in the Breedlove Pursuit with a smooth and warm tone, which pairs up well with the ISYS electronic system that’s installed in this acoustic-electric guitar. The ISYS electronic system does an outstanding job of amplifying the sound of the Breedlove without altering the natural tone too drastically.
However, if you are someone who does a lot of fingerpicking, I would not recommend this guitar to you. The Breedlove Pursuit is a classical guitar and has been comprised to produce an ultimate tone for fingerpicking style. The overall tone of this instrument is very mellow and is the ideal instrument for traditional classical music and for fingerstyle music. However, if you are someone who is looking for an instrument to use to pair with a vocal arrangement, this guitar would also suit you well.
Playability
The neck of the Breedlove Pursuit is slim, which allows musicians to play comfortably for a longer period of time. As someone with small hands, I found that playing on the Breedlove Concert neck allowed my hands to move quickly, easily, and I didn’t feel cramped or exhausted, even after several hours of playing.
When it comes to changing out your strings, the Pin-less bridge is amazing to have around. One of the most hassling parts of having to change strings is taking the bridge pins in and out of the bridge. But, with a pinless bridge, you don’t have to worry about losing or breaking your pins either!
